The Portrait: Pumpkin (RaCa_2022-05_JoF-02)
Pumpkin was born on May 12, 2022.
Pumpkin is male, which was determined by probing by a veterinarian.
The parents, Raptor and Cassiopea, are self-bred by the male US designer Americano and the mother named Green Beauty, a Jayapura type.
Both Cassiopea and Raptor have been red as neonates.
At first hesitant about eating, he is now a greedy eater who eats weekly with baby rats weighing between 5 and 8 g.
The animal shed its skin at intervals of 4 - 6 weeks. Last time on April 28th. That was the 8th molt.
Pumpkin is currently molting again, as the film recordings show.
The weight is around 71 g. What is amazing is the slow color change that began in early February and is still not complete.
The name Pumpkin comes from the fact that the body color originally resembled an orange.
During care, however, the color slowly darkened.
The gender of this stately Morelia viridis with a temperamental disposition is currently unknown.
Pumpkin has been vet checked. In summary, it is a healthy and virus-free young animal, now 13 months old, which molted again on June 7th, 2023.
What is amazing is the slow color change that began in early February and is still not complete.
The coloring differs massively from the red-colored siblings. Sunrise, the second yellow neonate from this clutch, also has a different basic color.
It remains exciting.
