The Portrait: Sunflower (RaCa_2022-05_JoF-04)

Sunflower was born on May 12, 2022. 

The parents, Raptor and Cassiopea, are self-bred by the male US designer Americano and the mother named Green Beauty, a Jayapura type.

Both Cassiopea and Raptor were red as neonates, so it was surprising that this neonate had a yellow body color.

Initially somewhat hesitant in his food intake, he is now a greedy eater who eats weekly with baby rats weighing between 5 - 8 g.

The animal shed its skin at intervals of 4 - 6 weeks. Last time on April 27th. That was the 9th molt.

The weight is estimated at around 90 g.

What is amazing is the slow color change that began in early February and is still not complete.

The coloring differs massively from the red-colored siblings. Sunrise, the second yellow neonate from this clutch, also has a different basic color.

It remains exciting.

The sex of this stately Morelia viridis with a temperamental disposition is currently also unknown.

This animal has not yet been examined by a veterinarian.
