Part 2: Iron Man [AmWu_2018-11_JoF-04]

In this part I will introduce Iron Man, father of the IrCa neonates from the years 2023 and 2025.

Iron Man didn't have it easy in his first few months as a neonate. He persistently refused to eat for many months. On 25 July 2019, he finally began to eat without support.

Hence the name Iron Man. The name stands for endurance and strength of character.

Most of my animals are given their name because of a special feature in their character or behaviour.

Iron Man is also a "designer chondro". I have already discussed why I define it this way in Cassiopea.

The reduced pedigree of Iron Man 

Iron Man's mother is Würmli. She was a Sorong type with the characteristic features. She was yellow as a neonate. 

A magnificent female with a length of approx. 190 cm.

Allow me to briefly explain the name "Würmli" at this point.

When I wanted to start keeping Morelia viridis in 2012, my wife was not an ardent fan of the idea.

But when I opened the transport box containing the little creature, the ice was broken.

"What a worm" was the surprised comment. The name stuck with her until her death at the end of 2021. 

Würmli comes from a genealogy of pure Sorong. Animals from the stock of Marcel Hoffmann and Markus Motz helped her mother to see the light of day.

Unfortunately, little is known about Würmli's father - apart from the fact that he was also a representative of the Sorong type.

Three matings - three clutches

Iron Man, who started life as a red neonate weighing just 8 g, is now the father of three clutches:

1x Iron Man x Twister 2022 

2x Iron Man x Cassiopea 2022 and 2025. 

For the sake of form, it should be mentioned that all matings are "brother - stepsister" matings.

Iron Man, has left his egg as a red neonate weighing 8 g.

Two examples from the Iron Man x Twister mating from 2022 are shown below.

Both the female Miracle and Mystery, a tiny male, are in my possession.

The first pairing in autumn 2021

Iron Man was bred to his half-sister Twister for the first time in autumn 2021.

• The hatching of 17 neonates will take place between 26 and 30 June 2022
• Incubation period: 53 days
• Slip rate: 89%
• Collor: 100% of the neonates were red

• 19 newborns hatched between 19 and 21 July 2023
• Incubation period: 53 days
• Slip rate: 78 % 
• Colour: ~ 75 % of the newborns were red.

Now an overview of some of the animals from this clutch, all of which are now growing and thriving in the care of a new keeper.

• The hatching of 12 neonates took place between 26 and 28 April 2025
• Incubation period: 55 Tage

• 70% of the newborns were red

The neonates, who are in excellent health, have just eaten their third meal.
