Sunflower Color Development

On the color development of Sunflower (RaCa_2022-05_JoF-03)

Sunflower (RaCa-03) peeled out of her egg on May 12, 2022.

The surprise was great when a small, exhausted neonate with yellow body color stuck its little head out of the egg.

The parents Raptor and Cassiopea were red as neonates.

In terms of relationship, the parents are siblings.

Their pedigree is long and can be traced back to a pair at the Denver Zoo in the early 1980s.

Sunflower is a mix of Americano and Green-Beauty.

The young lady was normal weight at 10 g and on May 24, 2022 she shed her skin for the first time.

It is worth mentioning that at the beginning she was very reluctant to eat and only the use of the down of a chick inspired her to beat and eat the mouse thus disguised.

In the end, however, patience paid off, and today Sunflower is a voracious eater who always seems to be hungry.

In the meantime, a shy worm has turned into a courageous snake dwarf, which brings a considerable weight on the scale.

She is kept in a terrarium together with Sunrise, the second yellow colored neonate from this clutch.

Since March the body color is changing to a so far hardly definable body color. Something greenish that is interrupted by strong yellow spots.

Even though the sex has not been determined yet, I suspect that it is a girl.
